PEGASUS

We feel privileged to be members of Pegasus and feel that Fortune was smiling at us when we were randomly allocated to the House, and that this gives us a natural advantage.  In Greek mythology Pegasus, the winged horse, was a creature capable of everything: no challenge was too great and this will be reflected in our participation in House activities.  The creatures which symbolizes the other houses are completely imaginary and never really existed.  Pegasus is a white horse, beautiful, glamorous, strong and powerful but capable of being trained for good.  We are like that too. But Pegasus is a horse with wings, a real creature but given the ability to fly by the Gods.  We represent this: we are ordinary students who work hard, behave well and act responsibly but we have additional talents which enable us to soar above other students in achievement and commitment.  While the success of other Houses will be proved to be entirely mythical, like the imaginary creatures which symbolize them, ours will be not only real but sustained. Pegasus was a gentle, good-hearted creature, always eager to help others. We are like that too.  As Captains, we will always be willing to help students and teachers in our House and will enjoy participating in the challenges which also help others. Pegasus’ ability to fly also represents the power of inspiration and imagination.  Just as Pegasus could leave the Earth and fly gracefully towards the Heavens, we can rise above the ordinary.  As House Captains, it is our job to inspire all the members of Pegasus and urge them towards even greater success, not just in House competitions but in school and in the community.  We want every student to be engaged in the ethos of the school, precious gems illuminated by the joy of participation.  There is more than one Jewel in Pegasus! Finally, as a reward for his service and loyalty, Pegasus was awarded special immortality by Zeus; on his death he was turned into a constellation and, every night, can be seen in the sky.  When Ms Davies presents the cup, adorned with blue ribbons, we will see it not as a prize that has been won but as confirmation that we have shown the most commitment and loyalty to our school and that we have devoted ourselves to its service. Our motto: No Challenge Too Great.
